Located in Champa Gali, Saket, Pho King is just about 4 months old and is the brainchild of mr. Mukul, who is a Chef himself. he pursued his undergrad degree in Hospitality Management and was an integral part of the opening team of the iconic 360 Degrees restaurant at Oberoi Delhi. A Masters from Le Cordon Bleu Australia, Chef Mukul is also an accomplished Sommelier and ran successful restaurants & vineyards in Australia.
Pho King is a culmination of all the diverse experiences and journeys of Chef Mukul’s life. His beautiful Vietnamese wife Mong The Tran is the source of inspiration for the types of cuisines he prefers.
Not to forget, Pho King also does late night deliveries until 2:30am and in fact it started as a delivery only outlet based out of GK.
The cafe has got a really good vibe with a combination of Blue & White on the outside.
LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER ON YOUR PALATE
They have an extensive menu offering a variety of Asian, Continental, Mexican & Indian delicacies along with some in house coolers and the regular beverages.
Here’s what I had
Mango & Cucumber cooler: a great thirst quencher that somewhat tastes like the mango bite toffee.
Delhi Summer: a cooler made with cumin, mint & chaat masala. If you love street food, you will definitely like this drink.
Coriander & Chicken Dimusm: So soft and juicy that it actually melts in your mouth. The purple colour that you see is not an artificial one, instead it’s a natural colour extracted from purple cabbage which is also known as red cabbage.
Asparagus & Chestnut Dimusm: tender and the crunch of the water chestnut just added onto the texture of the dish.
Chilli fries: crinkle cut fries served with refried beans & tomato salsa dip, had a perfect balance of chilli in it.
Vietnamese rice paper rolls: stuffed with vermicelli noodles, fresh coriander, carrot & cucumber pickles served with peanut dipping sauce were so juicy that you could see the juice dripping out in every bite.
Spicy Okra: a dish that i’ve never had before consisting of french beans, okra and brinjal in spicy oyster sauce. For the uninitiated, Okra is popularly known as lady finger and is believed to have Ethiopian or South Asian origin. This dish is a must try for sure.
Kung Pao Chicken: Pho King’s preparation style sure does justice to the dish!
Hakka noodles & fried rice: they were the usual, just about how you would get them at any other place serving Asian food.
Honey noodles with Vanilla ice cream: just a classic combo that you’d find on the menu of almost all the Asian food outlets, is always a safer bet. I really liked the fact that their noodles weren’t dripping in honey and the dessert had the typical noodle crunch texture.
